G–wagen is the short term for Geländewagen in German meaning “Cross Country Vehicle”.
It was first developed in 1979 and intended for military purpose, making it the second–longest produced vehicle in Daimler’s history with a span of 40 years. Only the unimog surpasses it.it was facelifted in 1990.
